Think of all the times you worked before and you wanted to change things that made no sense, added little value, or created more paperwork that no one asked for.
Legacy systems and an unwillingness to change made you forget the fact that you enjoy finance.
The day-to-day firefighting made you forget the great success you and the business can achieve together when you work towards a common goal and your role is seen as a strategic function and help, rather than just keeping the numbers in check.
This role, we trust, will help you rediscover the pride that you take in your work, the professional satisfaction you achieve when you solve problems and you are credited for it, and how no problem is too big when everyone pulls in the same direction and gives each other support.
Who is our client?
A privately financed business, with operations in Malta, UK, and a working point in Spain, dedicated to making the world an easier place to understand, through tailor-made sign language communication solutions across the Globe. A truly inclusive organisation, they welcome applications from all backgrounds and if you require any reasonable accommodations to be made during the interviewing process, all you have to do is ask!
What will you be doing?
This is a newly created role within the business, and you will have an almost clean sheet of paper to start from. Why almost?
There is a Finance Manager in place in their UK business that you will work closely with, and the Malta side has been managed by an outsourced accounting business to date. Don’t worry, no backlog for you to clear!
You will then put together the finance function and bring it in- house, and in time, you will build a team around you. You will work closely with the Founder and MD in advising them on business planning, strategic planning, forecasting & cost control.
What are the essential requirements?
You must be a qualified ACCA/CPA, with in-depth experience at Senior level in preparation of statutory & management accounting, Malta VAT and tax, forecasting, cashflow, budgeting, and statutory obligations of Maltese companies ( MBR / CFR Fillings ). An understanding of UK tax system would be a distinct advantage, though not compulsory.
You must be fluent in English and flexibility, agility, and practicality, are attributes that describe you well.
You will be based in Malta with occasional travel to Spain (and yes, mixed with a sneaky holiday here and there) and the UK. You can work from their office in Malta or be fully remote or go in the office as and when – you decide.
